Serum Adiponectin Level in Patients with Psoriasis and its Correlation with the Clinical Severity

Background: Psoriasis is a common chronic immune mediated papulosquamous disease that affects 2-3% of the population. The exact cause psoriasis still unclear, but it considered dysregulated inflammation which driven and maintained by interaction among multiple components system in genetically predisposed individuals. Adipose tissue an active endocrine organ contributing to regulation metabolic pathways via self-produced bioactive products called adipokine. Adiponectin adipose origin has highest circulating concentration known adipokines. regulates skin especially IL-17-related psoriasiform dermatitis. Objective: This study was aimedto estimate serum level detect its correlation with activity psoriatic patients. Patients Methods: case control included total 50 patients with psoriasis healthy individuals, attending at Outpatient Clinic, Department Dermatology, Venereology Andrology collaboration Clinical Pathology, Faculty Medicine, Zagazig University Hospitals. conducted between November 2019 2020. severity classified according area index (PASI) score. Serum adiponectin determined ELISA for both groups. Results: results revealed group had significantly higher than patients. There negative significant Area Severity Index (PASI score) (p <0.001**). Sensitivity diagnosis 94%, specificity 90% accuracy 92%. Conclusion: measurement provides tool monitoring activity.
